.NET Runtime Configuration

The Machine and Client Setups include .NET Framework 4.8 and .NET 6.0 runtime packages, meaning that the official Microsoft installer is delivered with the Setups.
The Server Setup includes .NET Framework 4.8, .NET 6.0 and .NET ASP Core 6.0 packages. When starting the Setup, it is verified whether the necessary .NET runtime packages are already installed. Should this not be the case, the installation of the Microsoft .NET packages (depending on the required version) is started. After the runtime packages have been successfully installed, the installation of the CAO setup is resumed.
The Machine and Client Updates do not include .NET runtime packages. The updates only apply for the currently installed CAO version.
The update process checks whether the required .NET Framework 4.8 and .NET 6.0 runtime packages are installed on the PC. If they are installed, the CAO update is resumed. Should the runtime packages not be installed, they must be stored in the same folder with the CAO Client or Machine Update Setup for the update to continue. The following packages provided by DiIT must be downloaded to update a Client or a Machine Software when the .NET framework runtime package is not available:

  1. .NET Framework 4.8 (32/64bit OS): ndp48-x86-x64-allos-enu.exe
  2. .NET 6 (64bit OS): windowsdesktop-runtime-6.0.xx-win-x64.exe
  3. .NET 6 (32bit OS): windowsdesktop-runtime-6.0.xx-win-x86.exe
The required installation packages can be downloaded from the CAO download portal.

Depending on your operating system configuration (32-bit or 64-bit), the appropriate runtime package must be installed. If both runtime packages are available, the system will automatically select the correct one. Once the installation is complete, the CAO update will resume automatically.

Production Stop might be necessary (production down time)

.NET 6 and .NET Framework 4.8 are required for CAO 6.0. Installing these components requires a system restart, which may lead to a temporary production downtime. To avoid this, we recommend that your IT department performs the installation and restart in advance.

No Windows XP

Windows XP is no longer supported in CAO Version 6.x. If you are using Windows XP, please continue with Version 5.11 or 5.12.
